THE PERFECT AND FASCINATING WORLD OF ISRAEL GUEVARA ...
To speak about a visual artist is to bring to my column a broader image of art through the years that has filled the history with joy, represented by big names in each period and different artistic movements. In this instance I want to introduce an artist that represents a new generation to reinterpret the use of color and shapes in their work.
Israel Guevara is an artist of Venezuelan origin resident in the city of Miami for many years with a career as great as his work and dedication. He began his career at the University of Architecture in the Central University of Caracas and later become a self-taught plastic artist full time whose works, although mostly on canvas, cover a variety of media.
Knowing his work is to stay fascinated with the perfection of its lines and the use of colors in a proportional manner and harmony, as I’ve never before seen. Israel Guevara is predominantly famous and admired for his unique exploration of color through the use of bright colors and defined and overlapping lines, which speaks volumes of his versatility.

His sophisticated yet playful presentation allows viewers to experience a constant interaction with his creations, an interaction that results in ever-changing colors, shapes, dimensions and even images. His paintings are not representational art, and are characterized by geometry, sample color drawings and compositions of open character, as is representative of the global movement “MADI” born in 1946, that focuses on geometric shapes that spill outside the traditional frame and articulated and mobile structures. The MADI artists refuse to make the representative object, but rather focus on the object and the same colors. One need not look for meaning behind the art, but rather enjoy each piece itself.
Today there are MADI artists in many countries, especially in France, Italy, and Hungary. All have strong MADI Organizations, with whole communities of practicing artists. There are also MADI artists in Argentina, Japan, Spain, and the United States. Several major MADI artists were born in Uruguay, and in this case we make the presentation of the artist with Venezuelan origin.
With a broad curriculum of various works, Israel has been invited to showcase his talent in places as prestigious as the Boca Museum of Art, the Frost Museum of Art, Ninoska Huerta Gallery / Biscayne Art House and the Geometric and MADI Museum in Dallas, Texas. In addition, his work has been featured in several publications such as The Miami Herald and Florida Design: Miami Home and Decoration, as well as by the network of high design.
Among his recent presentations include the delivery of his work “TOTEM # 5” as an honored recognition to the Mayor of the City of Doral Luigi Boria and his wife Mrs. Graciela Boria in a private event that took place in the city of Doral Florida. At this same event he also honored me with his custom masterpiece “ FREE FLOW ”, Acrylic/Canvas 2015 in recognition for my work in The White House.
